Client notes
Specific engagements, constraints, and outcomes from macroeconomic indicator impact reviews — including one reservation that still teaches us something.
Their CPI surprise map for our ASEAN equity sleeve was tighter than our internal note. We still wished the FX channel section had arrived a day earlier ahead of the Bank of Thailand meeting.
We commissioned a trade-balance impact review before expanding our THB hedge. The walkthrough forced our desk to state assumptions we usually leave unspoken.
The policy watch around the unexpected fiscal statement was calm and usable. Not flashy — which is what we needed while the wires were noisy.
Overlay session helped our family office see where three upcoming US prints stacked on the same week as a local employment release. We cut one overlapping hedge idea after the map.
Engagement story: Thai CPI into a regional equity sleeve
A Bangkok equity team asked for a single-indicator impact review five sessions before Thai CPI. Constraints: no US rates channel in scope, heavy consumer and bank weights, and a hard internal meeting the morning after the print.
We delivered a historical reaction map for comparable CPI surprises, then two equity transmission paths — one if the baht had already adjusted, one if it had not. The team used the second path; FX had been quiet into the print. Their mild reservation afterward: they wanted a third path for food-versus-core splits. We now offer that split as an explicit add-on when CPI is the primary indicator.
Engagement story: Pre-release briefing under a compressed calendar
A Singapore treasury group booked a 90-minute briefing three days before a US employment print that sat beside their board pack deadline. We narrowed to wage growth and participation after intake, skipping tables that would not change their hedge discussion. They later commissioned a full impact review for the following CPI — a better fit once the calendar eased.
